Masters are reminded of the responsibility to ensure their vessel is operated safely at all times, paying particular attention to the current and forecast weather condition. The seabed is sandy and may not provide a good holding ground for vessels using the anchorages in adverse weather.
Vessel to use the designated anchorage as advised by Bunbury port, the HM or duty pilot. The master must ensure the vessel remains at the designated anchorage.
A STCW qualified officer of the watch is to be on bridge at all times and monitor vessels position and proximity of other vessels.
VHF Watch 16/12 at all times.
Any defects, incidents or near misses to be reported to AMSA and the Port as soon as practicable.
Engines must be immediately available if wind speeds of 25 knots or higher are forecast or experienced.
When gales are forecast or experienced, the master should consider weighing anchor and depart to a safe location at sea prior to weather deteriorating.
If the vessel drags anchor and for any reason is unable to maintain its position, the vessel must weigh anchor and depart to a safe location at sea.
This message does not override the Master’s responsibility to ensure the safety of their vessels at all times.
