Across our sites we welcome a variety of people from port users, contractors, stakeholders, our staff and visitors who all are contributing to facilitating trade through our Ports which underpins our regional and state economies. 

To ensure everyone can work safely and harmoniously together, and in line with our security requirements, there are a few key aspects to know about working on our sites.

Access and security

We operate security regulated ports, under the Australian Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA), and have Maritime Security Plans approved by Department of Home Affairs, which means certain clearances are needed to gain access to our port sites. 

Depending on the type of access you require and to which port, will depend on the type of clearance and pass that you need.

Safety

At Southern Ports, the safety of our team, customers and community always comes first. 

It’s why we strive to continually build on our workplace safety standards, engaging in best-in-class systems to ensure everyone across our ports returns home safely after each shift. 

We have formal processes which give people the authority to work on our sites, and assist in the identification of hazards and management of controls applicable to all employees, port users, contractors and visitors.
