We're planning for the future by identifying opportunities for port growth, supporting the development of new and evolving industries and ensuring our infrastructure can respond to the changing needs of the regions we serve.

Master plans 

Thirty-year Master Plans for all three ports were adopted in 2023 and recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia as Western Australia's most strategic planning project.

These plans provide a long-term framework to guide planning, investment and development across our ports, ensuring decisions are aligned with future trade needs and regional priorities. They are regularly reviewed and updated to respond to changing market conditions, emerging industries and evolving economic and infrastructure demands.

Sustainable development 

Sustainability is embedded in how we plan, develop and operate our ports. By working collaboratively with stakeholders and port users, we're delivering infrastructure and initiatives that support future trade while also protecting our environment, strengthening communities and contributing to long-term economic prosperity.

Berth 1 and 2 in Albany

Albany General Purpose Berth

A new general purpose berth will be required to support the continued operation and potential expansion of trade through Berths 1 and 2 at our Port of Albany. A business case and feasibility study are currently underway.

The Bunbury Port Optimisation Plan underpins the Port of Bunbury’s expansion across its 470-hectare landholding adjacent to the bustling inner harbour, mapping development over the next 50+ years.

Grange Resource’ Southdown Magnetite Project proposes the construction and operation of an open pit magnetite mine with pit-to-port plans for export.

Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront

The WA Government, through South West Development Commission and with the support of other key stakeholders, has have been transforming coastal areas stretching from Koombana Bay to Casuarina Boat Harbour. The development stimulates the economy by strengthening tourism and marine industries while boosting local employment.

AMTECH Hub

Our Port of Bunbury will play a major role in the delivery of Western Australia’s Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH) – a new manufacturing facility in Picton which will support innovation and collaboration, ‘home grown’ industry capability and technology development.
