Growing our ports

Southern Ports is looking at new expansions and investments that will help make Western Australia’s economic ambitions a reality.

With a future focused mindset, we’re investing in the growth of our ports by planning for emerging trades, securing investment for future development, and delivering strategic upgrades to infrastructure through our capital works program.

Investment in regional ports strengthens the resilience and diversity of WA’s trade network.

Ports across southern Western Australia support a broad range of commodities and supply chains, providing important export pathways for industries including agriculture, mining and manufacturing. Complementing the state's northern ports, our regional ports help diversify Western Australia's economy and reduce reliance on any single commodity, market or trade route.

The benefits of port investment extend well beyond the port gates. Port activity supports thousands of jobs across logistics, agriculture, mining, transport and manufacturing, while infrastructure upgrades create opportunities for new private investment in processing facilities, storage, transport connections and industrial development. Together, these generate long-term economic opportunities for regional communities.
