Albany cruise arrivals

There’s a variety of ways you can get from the Port to town:

• Shuttle bus – Southern Ports provides a free shuttle bus service for passengers. 

• Taxi – a limited taxi collection point is offered within the Port.

• Walk – you can walk from the Port directly to town (approximately 2 kilometres).

• Tours – tours arranged by your cruise vessel will be available for pick up inside the Port.

• Private tours – private tours arranged outside of your cruise vessel will need to meet you at the public parking area outside of the Port.

Once you’ve arrived in the Albany Town Centre you can head to the Albany Visitor’s Centre where a return shuttle service can take you to the National Anzac Centre (noting this service doesn’t run all the time, so you’ll need to check with the Visitors Centre).

It is approximately 2 kilometres between the Port and the Albany Town Centre – a 15-20-minute walk or a short drive.

You can certainly walk and it should take you approximately 15-20 minutes. One thing to know about Albany, depending on where you’re headed, is that there’s a fair few hills around. If you’re walking to town, you can follow the foreshore along Royal Princess Drive and take the pedestrian overpass located at the Albany Entertainment Centre building – this is a much safer and flatter route than any others.

If you are meeting a friend or family member who is already in Albany, you can meet them in town (we suggest catching the free shuttle bus to get there). Otherwise you can meet at the public parking outside of the Port near the Albany Boatshed.

If you are meeting a friend or family member arriving on a cruise ship, you can meet them in town (we suggest the cruise passenger catches the free shuttle bus to get there). Otherwise you can meet at the public parking outside of the Port near the Albany Boatshed.

Arrival and departure of cruise ships can be viewed from Marine Drive or the boardwalk. There is a public carpark adjacent to the public boat ramp. Please note, there is no parking allowed along Princess Royal Drive.

Please note there is a restricted area of 80 metres off the Port’s berth which is permanently in place. In order to meet Federal Government security requirements, an additional Exclusion Zone is in place at Berths 1, 2 and 3, out to 100 metres whenever a cruise ship is alongside. All other vessels and watercraft are prohibited from entering this zone, which extends 100 metres from the berth face. Penalties apply.

No. There is no public access to the port to view or board cruise ships due to Federal Government security requirements. The security zone at the port restricts who can enter the area, and there is a local security company who assists Southern Ports meet those requirements.

There is public parking outside of the Port near the Albany Boatshed and adjacent to the public boat ramp at the Marina.

There’s a variety of reasons that a cruise vessel may cancel its visit. For example, they could be behind on their schedule or the weather, swell and tide conditions may make it unsafe for them to arrive or depart.
