Visiting our ports

If you are visiting one of our ports for a business-related need for a short period of time and don’t intend to undertake any work while you’re there, then here’s a quick and easy guide on how to gain access.

  1. Ensure you have appropriate clothing including a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers and safety boots. The person you are visiting should be able to provide you with a hi-visibility vest, helmet and safety glasses to meet our Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

  2. Bring a physical form of identification – ideally your Driver’s Licence or passport.

  3. Visit a Southern Ports Administration or security office during opening hours to undertake a visitor induction, attain a visitor pass and meet your key contact who needs to be an approved Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) holder. This pass will provide you the ability to visit the relative port for a maximum of one day, escorted by an approved MSIC holder at all times.

  4. Following your visit, you will need to return your visitor card and check out at the same Southern Ports Administration office.
