Across its 300+ strong and predominantly regional workforce, Southern Ports offers pathways for apprentice boilermakers, mechanical fitters and electricians in a unique setting. These hands-on roles allow you to stay local while you gain experience that will set you up for a bold career.
This four-year apprenticeship offers the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised trade qualification while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic port environment.
Working alongside experienced tradespeople and under the guidance of dedicated supervisors, apprentices will receive practical on-the-job training, mentoring, and structured learning to develop the skills and knowledge required to safely maintain and repair port infrastructure and equipment, preparing you for a successful career in your chosen trade.
Applications are open until 2 October for aspiring boilermakers, electricians and mechanical fitters.
Mechanical fitter apprentice
Are you looking for a hands-on career working to install, test, maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics and other machinery? Our mechanical fitter apprenticeship give you the opportunity to do this and more in a unique port setting.

We’re looking for a boilermaker apprentice who is looking to make their mark on our Port of Esperance, working with our skilled team to fabricate, maintain, repair and install components of our steel structures and assets.
