Traineeships
Across its 300+ strong and predominantly regional workforce, Southern Ports offers pathways for business administration trainees at each of its ports in Esperance, Bunbury and Albany. These hands-on roles allow you to stay local while you gain experience that will set you up for a bold career.
This two-year traineeship offers the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Certificate III or IV Business Administration qualification while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic port environment.
Working alongside a supportive and experienced team, you'll build practical skills across administration, customer service, communications, calendar management, records management, and event coordination, while contributing to the day-to-day operations of one of Western Australia's leading port authorities.
Applications are open until 2 October for our next Esperance-based business administration trainee.

Emma Sticken
Former Business Administration Trainee
Emma Sticken recently completed her two-year traineeship with Southern Ports at the Port of Esperance and has now works as an Office Coordinator at the Port.
She enjoyed being trusted with real responsibilities right from the starts while receiving great support from the team around her.
“Before my traineeship I had considered a move to Perth, but the role allowed me to stay in my hometown while developing valuable skills, gaining a nationally recognised qualification, and building my career."
During her traineeship her day-to-day role included general administration duties such as answering phones, booking meetings, taking minutes and processing orders, but she also took part in emotional intelligence and first aid courses, and in an executive assistant conference in Perth.
