Southern Ports will open its gates to the Great Southern community on Saturday 27 April to discover the inner workings of the Port of Albany.
Across two free sessions there will be port tours, live entertainment and family friendly activities including a treasure hunt, bouncy castle, face painting, and the latest voiceprint premiere and truck display.
Southern Ports Regional Manager Albany Paul McSweeney said it would be a great opportunity for the community to get up close and see how the Port of Albany operates.
“This is a unique opportunity to see our operations, meet a range of our team and port users who are integral to the success of the Port of Albany and a chance to learn more about the maritime sector,” said Mr McSweeney.
“We’re honoured that our local community is so invested in the Port, watching the vessels come and go from several lookouts across town, and now they’ll be able to see them up close.”
A range of local organisations and port users will be in attendance including Great Southern Development Commission, Department of Transport, Svizter Australia, QUBE, City of Albany, Museum of Great Southern, CBH Group, Mission to Seafarers, Stella Maris, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Cycling Without Age, Water Corporation, UWA, Big T Transport, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and more.
The last Port of Albany Open Day was held in 2021 with more than 1,000 people taking the opportunity to explore the Port.
