Sea Princess cruise liner visits Port of Albany

On Tuesday October 22, the Port of Albany welcomed the first cruise liner for the season, the Sea Princess to shore.
Visitors were greeted with a welcome ceremony performed by young members of the Kwongkan Middars local indigenous dance group.
Interim General Manager Albany, Dale Lindkvist, said the arrival of the first cruise vessel was always warmly welcomed by the local community.
“The arrival of these vessels is always really positive for the local community and of course the economy. Our stunning natural environment offers visitors a truly unique experience and this year we are delighted to incorporate an indigenous welcome including dance and didgeridoo for the first time as part of our commitment to promoting reconciliation,” said Dale.
Southern Ports recently launched an entirely new website which now incorporates live shipping information for vessels, including cruise ships.
“As shipping schedules are subject to change, interested members of the public are encouraged to refer to our website for the most up-to-date vessel arrival and departure information,” said Dale.
