Simon Gavin appointed as Chief Commercial Officer

Simon Gavin has been appointed as Chief Commercial Offer to be based in Albany following changes in the Executive Team.

Simon has an extensive international career in finance, commercial negotiations and business improvement initiatives in airports and land-side logistics. With a wife and young family, Simon said the idyllic location of Albany would provide his family with a stable family base as his children progress through their schooling.

Simon was born in regional Victoria (Geelong) and has a passion for regional Australia. Career opportunities have taken him to a variety of locations, nationally and internationally but he has always retained a long-term desire to return to regional life. He will be relocating to Albany with his wife and children to take up the role.

“I have travelled extensively for work over many years, now with three young children, my wife and I are looking forward to settling into the community,” said Simon.

Southern Ports Chief Executive Officer Steve Lewis said the appointment of these key roles is an important step towards achieving the organisation’s vision of ‘strong regional ports, strong regions’.

“We have a long term vision for the ongoing success of all of our ports. Appointing the key roles of Harbour Master and Chief Commercial Officer to the City of Albany reflects the ongoing importance of the Port of Albany within our network,” said Steve.
