Southern Ports is thrilled to invite the Great Southern community to get an inside look at the Albany Port, opening the gates to the public for the 2021 Port Open Day.

The Open Day will be held on Saturday 24 April 2021.

Albany Regional Manager Gary Crockford said he was excited to invite the community to see what the port is all about.

“You can’t miss the Port, it’s right there in the middle of town, but given the security arrangements surrounding our work, our operations happen in an area the public cannot normally access,” Mr Crockford said.

“We’re really excited to welcome people into the Port to find out more about the work we do.”

The event is free, however, to ensure a COVID safe event numbers for both the morning and afternoon sessions are limited, so people need to register to attend.

Mr Crockford said this was an opportunity for the community to learn more about Southern Ports and the role the organisation plays in the community.

“Aside from finding out more about Southern Ports, this is also an opportunity for people to meet with our Port Users and see how we interact together to ensure trade keeps moving through the Port.

“There will be a free sausage sizzle and entertainment, so we encourage people to bring their families and make an outing of it.”

The morning session will run from 10am to 12pm, and the afternoon session from 1pm to 3pm.
